Empowering Women | Raven IT Services
As a female-managed IT firm, Raven IT Services is acutely aware of the systemic obstacles facing women who wish to pursue careers in the Information Technology (IT) sector in Canada. Without denying or diminishing the hardships confronting other Canadian minority groups, Raven is committed to developing and implementing practical initiatives to enable Canadian women to overcome the pervasive barriers to success in an IT career.
The lack of proportionate representation of women in STEM fields has entered the public eye in recent years, with most estimates indicating that women occupy less than one-third of the total STEM workforce and far less in the case of Information Technology. Organizations such as AAUW have extensively documented the obstacles that women face in acquiring the necessary training in math and science for IT positions, as well as the discrimination they face upon entering the workforce.
At Raven, we endeavour to meet these challenges with practical initiatives designed to empower women in their pursuit of careers in IT. Foremost among these is the Raven IT Talent Network (RITN), a training program and database designed specifically with Canadian women and indigenous persons in mind.
